Wash Cup
Consumer Product
Designed for everyday ritual use, this acrylic wash cup combines clean geometry with thoughtful functionality. Inspired by the simplicity of an acrylic tube, the cup features integrated side handles that create a distinctive silhouette while providing a comfortable, balanced grip. Developed with manufacturing in mind, the design explores variations in wall thickness, handle geometry, and branding placement to create a refined product that is both durable and production-ready.

Project Overview
DBS was hired to design a modern wash cup that respects tradition while introducing a contemporary design language. The objective was to create a product that felt refined, durable, and timeless, while remaining efficient to manufacture through standard acrylic production processes.
The design began with the purity of a simple cylindrical form, using the transparency and precision of acrylic as the foundation. From there, the project focused on developing an integrated handle system that felt natural in the hand while creating a recognizable product identity.
Throughout development, multiple design variations were explored, evaluating handle proportions, wall thicknesses, material finishes, and logo placement to balance aesthetics, ergonomics, and manufacturing efficiency. Every detail was refined with production in mind, ensuring the final design could be manufactured consistently while maintaining a premium appearance and user experience.
The result is a modern interpretation of a traditional ritual object—one that demonstrates how thoughtful industrial design can elevate both everyday interaction and manufacturability.
This follows the same storytelling as your other case studies:
- What the product is
- Why it was designed
- How DBS approached the problem
- The manufacturing considerations
- The outcome
It's less about saying "we designed a cup" and more about showing how DBS thinks through form, function, and production.
